Au bistro des découvertes ! Patricia Cano presents Louis Simao and Jessica Lloyd

Not all great talents are great stars. Discovering them, despite their relative obscurity, is a keenly felt pleasure. We gain an appreciation for our environment, capable of offering such beautiful presences. We share the thrill of a brand-new performance. We experience a moment of beautiful guidance that wants to do good, just by forging a link.

It’s in this spirit that La Slague invites you to “Au bistro des découvertes“. This intimate concert series is carefully curated, with new talent personally recommended by seasoned French Ontario artists. Our old hands on the music scene are well placed to make good musical acquaintances, and like us, the stars love to share their finds with their friends. So be one of their friends!

Au Bistro des Découvertes, you’ll come for the good atmosphere, the good food, the good music, the good company, all under the guidance of the evening’s artist godparents, to create an intimate and convivial evening with their protégés.

An initiative of La Slague, under the artistic direction of Dan Bédard.

Patricia Cano presents…

Gifted with charisma and a compelling voice, our Peruvian-born performer from Sudbury is a force of nature. The singer has two magnificent albums to her credit, but also some wonderful recordings made in 2021, during the reign of the pandemic, as part of a project entitled The Love & Resistance Sessions. Tonight, she presents us to her collaborator in this project, as well as one of his own!

Louis Simao and Jessica Lloyd

Born in Toronto of Portuguese parents, Louis Simao is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist recruited by big names. From opera houses to nightclubs, she has a magnificent voice and an impressive career. And this fine pair of artists have become Sudburians! Their very personal exploration of the countries that sing in Spanish and Portuguese bring us tonight their “Songs of love, loss and desire”. They travel across continents, voices and genres to make us feel the splendors and pains of love, as well as our common humanity.

Discover our artists godparents’ favourite meal from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., followed by the show from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

On the menu, her favorite meal: Ají de gallina (shredded chicken cooked with a creamy pecan and evaporated milk sauce). Enjoy a sangria to drink,  and finish the meal with Arroz con leche (rice pudding), a recipe from Patricia’s grandmother!

**Please note that the ticket does not include the meal**.

La Slague's Evolution

La Slague was established in 1964 by the Centre des jeunes de Sudbury. After many years of success, La Slague went dormant, and then reappeared for a time in the mid-1980s as a community-based volunteer organization. With La Slague’s renaissance in 2006 as part of the Carrefour francophone, a third generation of concert promotion activities was afoot.
