Under the guidance of our chef, Mama G’s, Rosine Bongnan and her team will come together to introduce you to delicious traditional African dishes!
Prepared with love and passion, these dishes will showcase the flavors, recipes, and culinary traditions of different regions of Africa, using ingredients sourced as much as possible from local producers, farmers, and suppliers—particularly those within our community.
A wonderful opportunity to taste, share, and celebrate the culinary and cultural richness of our community!

The Memorial Park will be set up to host Le French Fest 2026 and bring the heart of downtown to life! After a summer packed with festivals and events, the park continues to serve as a gathering place and hub of activity. Bring your chairs and picnic blankets to enjoy the festivities to the fullest! It’s a wonderful way to bring even more life and French-speaking culture to downtown Sudbury. Thank you to the City of Greater Sudbury and Downtown Sudbury for their support.
From African influences to local classics and flavors that are out of the ordinary, let your cravings be your guide. A selection designed to offer variety, help you discover new flavors, and let you craft your own experience.
There’s something for everyone!
For more than 25 years, Chef Gaetanne Larocque—better known as Mama G—has been bringing people together through good food and the joy of sharing. A Sceau Rouge-certified chef, culinary educator, and true advocate for her community, she puts local ingredients and people at the heart of each of her creations.
At Carrefour francophone, Mama G shares her expertise in many ways: she prepares meals for our early childhood centers, leads culinary experiences at Au Bistro des découvertes!, and passes on her passion to young people during the cooking camp at our summer camps.
Generous, authentic, and deeply compassionate, Mama G believes that food nourishes much more than just the body: it nourishes the bonds, communities, and memories we create around the table.
The great outdoors. Barbecues. Local flavors.
Families, friends, neighbors… and new acquaintances.
The French Fest is Sudbury’s big annual celebration of the French-speaking world. An event open to everyone, it brings together Francophones, Francophiles, newcomers, people from here and elsewhere, and anyone who wants to enjoy a warm and festive atmosphere.
At the heart of the festival: grilled foods, local products, and regional specialties that showcase our region’s producers, partners, and expertise, as well as artists from here and elsewhere who will have the crowd singing, dancing, and celebrating. It’s an opportunity to discover what our region has to offer, share an outdoor meal, and celebrate a welcoming, vibrant, and unifying community.
Throughout the day, families can enjoy a host of youth activities, entertainment, and experiences designed for all ages. Children play, explore, and marvel, while parents take the time to reconnect and enjoy the atmosphere, which continues into the evening.
This edition of French Fest is one people will be talking about for a long time to come: “Oh yeah… that one was something else!” Because 2026 marks the 75th anniversary of the Carrefour francophone de Sudbury, and we’re celebrating in a big way!
French Fest is the one day of the year you won’t want to miss! Grab your calendar, circle September 26, and make plans with your loved ones. And for those who don’t have a calendar, the back of your hand is always a safe bet.
We’ll see you at Memorial Park to celebrate together the French-speaking world, diversity, and everything that brings our community to life.
