The 11th edition of La Nuit émergente!

The beast has returned and is hungry:

Friends of La Nuit émergente, you love the imagery of its famous posters, populated with scenes of apocalypse, invading aliens, dark monsters and ferocious beasts. You know that all this means that our emerging music is impressive. It means: Oh!

But knowing that, this year, you still don’t know everything. Because new this year, we’re also bringing the beast face-to-face in the form of culinary and sensory delights! Oh?

Every year, this being the eleventh, Nuit émergente concocts a musical festival like no other. Its specialty is uniqueness. Its talents are those of whom we say: no two will ever be the same. Discovering them is energizing. On the musical menu, this spirit continues. But there’s another menu too

Nuit émergente 2025 will transform the spaces of Place des Arts with visual, aural and culinary ambiances. Lighthouses at the doors. Sofas for lounging and chatting under subdued lighting. Vintages and mouthfuls of local produce. The Studio black box turned red box, losing all sense of time. A popcorn machine through it all.

In Place des Arts, you will be in the lair of the beast. Make yourself at home.

La Nuit émergente - Friday : In the mouth of the beast

On Friday, May 16, 2025, we invite you to dive headfirst into the belly of the beast – where art, music and gastronomy intertwine to awaken all your senses. Prepare yourself for a rare, daring and memorable tasting experience.

In collaboration with chef Nick Mongeon’s culinary collective WeHideous, Larch Street is transformed into an open-air food court. Here, we eat with our eyes, ears, fingers and imagination.

On the menu: an explosion of freshness in every bite, daring grills with enchanting aromas, sweet treats for curious palates, and little nibbles for the appetite and stimulate the imagination. All served in a festive atmosphere, right in the heart of Sudbury, under a starry sky and a reinvented atmosphere.

All this, fueled by a performance by the duo Kora Flamenca, winners of ADISQ and Canadian Folk Music Awards for their stunning fusion of Afro-Mandingo and flamenco.

Then stay for the opening of “Projet :: Diptych”, presented by Galerie du Nouvel Ontario. Now in its 3rd iteration, the collective project invites local artists to present diptychs of a series of works projected onto the gallery’s walls and windows.

La Nuit émergente - Saturday : In the belly of the beast

Enter the belly of the beast for a dizzying evening of discoveries.
Come on in! Come right in!

Welcome to the Beast of La Nuit émergente 2025.
Let La Slague guide you through this nocturnal odyssey.

Keep your shoes on, protect your feet: the journey begins in the belly of the beast, and it is vibrating with hunger.

Beneath your feet, bleeding chickens litter the ground. Around you, the walls dance, inhabited by liquid landscapes and breathless colors.

First task: choose your glass.
Explore our selection of Ontario vintages – here, the terror roars.
And believe us, it stinks of good taste.

Next stop: the heart of the beast.

And it’s Soleil Launière who gets the blood pumping there, with the story of Taueue, the show from her most recent album.

Fragments of life, raw pulses: she recounts the realities of being a woman, a native, a Québécoise – and above all, the reappropriation of her language.

A reality that crosses borders and cultures.

A moment when a young woman takes root before our very eyes.

Can you hear that? It sounds like little voices singing, talking to us…

It’s all in the beast’s head!

Right next door, the multi-cultural talk continues: it’s Ponteix! Led by Fransaskois Mario Lepage, we’re off on a journey to the prairies, where the regional reality is in full view and the taming of its language is never finished. It’s bathed in a landscape of synthesizers that envelops the senses, all the way to the heavens. (esti) The view is beautiful from here, in the clouds of Saskatchewan.

Uh-oh, it is dinnertime and the belly of the beast is rumbling loudly. Join us for the evening’s menu, designed to stuff your face…

Ding-Dong! The bells are ringing, it’s time for Picaroon!

Quickly, now! We take refuge in the lair of the beast.

Here is Picaroon, a creation by Sudbury artist McLean – a rock opera-like work tinged with dreamlike music.

This is no mere concert: it’s a total sensory experience.
With a high-caliber lighting, choreography and staging team, Picaroon pushes the boundaries of musical spectacle.

We experience loneliness, malaise, despair…
But above all, we feel the furious vitality of the creative act in the face of nothingness.

Night falls. Surprises slowly emerge from the depths of darkness. The place transforms into an amber lounge, bathed in subdued light. Secrets are exchanged in hushed tones, with a glass of macerated fruit bubbles in hand.

Next door, in the beast’s head…

Here we see the tamed monster’s dreams sliding down the walls, until they land on the floor.

It’s a return to the skies of Ponteix, this time crossed by the landscapes of Sudbury.

Walls and windows undulate, illuminated by works from Projet :: Diptych – projections of water currents, shifting reflections and visions of Northern Ontario.

boom-boom. Boom-boom… Boom-Boom ! BOOM-BOOM !!!

Always in the beating heart of the beast.

Hosted by local multi-disciplinary artist Olivier Palkovits, the space is transformed into a soaring discotheque, where synthesizers and soundtracks are married and melodies rise and fall, one on top of the other.

PSSTT he was also part of the Slague artistic residency.

Take a breath, rest your head on a pouffe,

and let the blood flow like a river of dreams until tomorrow morning.
