La Nuit émergente is back for a ninth edition at la Place des Arts of Greater Sudbury! This year’s festival is spread over two nights: Face A and Face B. La Slague is also proud to collaborate with the Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord to showcase the talents of young musicians for a very special edition of Radio-Chaud 2023!
Thusday May 18, 2023 at 7 PM
Fraser Auditorium, Laurentian University
The adventure begins on Thursday, May 18, 2023, with the grand finale of Radio-Chaud 2023 at Laurentian University’s Fraser Auditorium. La Slague is proud to collaborate with the Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord to offer young people the chance to meet Étienne Fletcher, one of the artists at The 9th Nuit émergente, who will be giving workshops to young musicians during the week of Radio-Chaud!
In addition to this show, there will be performances by Aurel, artist in residence at La Slague and Philippe Mathieu, who will launch his new album, “Salut Philippe”.
Make sure to come early, as we will have “AGNEAU BINGO”, a bingo game loosely inspired by Sudbury’s very own “Porketta Bingo” starting at 5 PM in the Bistro! However, instead of winning porketta, you’ll be able to take home some lamb, caribbean-style! The game will be animated by DJ Ice Man, a local DJ who promises rich and diverse musical discoveries!
Access to this activity is free, however playing cards will have to be purchased at the event in order to play.
And don’t forget to drop by the Librarie-Boutique to check out Project K, an artistic residence based on the works of Jack Kerouac.
A dozen artists playing musical hide-and-seek all over the building. At every turn, you just might find the next big thing, or your new favourite band. A free-form festival where you choose your own adventure, and where there are no bad choices. Wherever you end up is exactly where you’re meant to be. La Nuit Émergente has been creating memorable musical encounters in unconventional spaces for nearly 10 years now.
Crank your turntables and place the needle, here’s the line-up: Joly, Marc-André Labelle, Martine Fortin, Cayenne, Kimya, McLean and Rosie Valland!
Make sure to drop by the “Foire à ta tête”, a local francophone vendors fair, from 3 PM to 9 PM in the Place des Arts’ lobby!
You won’t want to miss the Projet :: Projections opening, happening at 5 PM at the Galerie du Nouvel-Ontario, followed by the projections of various multimedia works by emerging artists in our region!
The party ends at the Townehouse Tavern’s “Aft’heure” starting at 11pm with Montreal’s feminist and anti-capitalist queer rapper Calamine, the return of Rouge Pompier, two guys in a two-piece rock band, and DJ Deux Bums, two delinquents behind the turntables with a passion for obscure and rhythmic tunes !
The Total Event Pass gives you access to all the performances, all the venues and all the excitement of the 9th Nuit émergente, with a discount price to boot! Best of all, it’s clear and simple: its gets you in everywhere so you don’t miss out on anything.
