Konflit for our new festival

Since 2001, KONFLIT has produced six albums and performed over 300 shows across Canada. The band is known for its experimental approach, both in its compositions and in the presentation of its works, frequently reinventing itself and viewing each album as an opportunity to break new artistic ground.
The band’s dazzling stage presence is inspired by a theatrical approach and has left indelible memories in the minds of thousands of spectators, making the band a founding force of the Franco-Ontarian counterculture movement.
KONFLIT refines its approach to song themes and lyrics by forging collaborations with great Franco-Ontarian poets such as Patrice Desbiens (Je t’aime Québec), Robert Dickson (La mère de toutes les dystopies), and Daniel Aubin (Tête de poisson).
For more than 25 years, the band KONFLIT and its members have remained at the centre of Sudbury’s cultural activities and have made their musical roots heard throughout the greater Francophone community.
In 2008, KONFLIT released their eponymous album (Konflit dramatiK), which had a profound impact on a generation by pushing the boundaries of the Franco-Ontarian music scene. The album was named Best Album at the 2009 Gala Trille Or and remains one of the essential records in the history of Franco-Ontarian music.
Highlights on stage include concerts at La Nuit sur l’étang, La nuit émergente (1st edition!), Francofête en Acadie, Festival Franco-Ontarien, John Basset Theatre in Toronto, and Centre Civic in Ottawa, where they opened for the legendary band The Roots in front of more than 6,000 spectators. In 2006, KONFLIT won the audience award at Contact Ontarois, which allowed the band to perform at some 30 high schools in Ontario, including Toronto, Ottawa, Sudbury, Chapleau, Timmins, and even Longlac.
The band is preparing a show that will include the best moments from their discography and will be presented at Collège Boréal in Sudbury on March 28, 2026, to mark 25 years since the release of their first album, Hors d’œuvre. In addition, KONFLIT has plans to record their new album in 2026 with a release scheduled for spring 2027.

La Slague's Evolution
La Slague was established in 1964 by the Centre des jeunes de Sudbury. After many years of success, La Slague went dormant, and then reappeared for a time in the mid-1980s as a community-based volunteer organization. With La Slague’s renaissance in 2006 as part of the Carrefour francophone, a third generation of concert promotion activities was afoot.
