Artistic residencies in the studio!

Over the past few weeks, La Slague’s artists in residency have been spending precious moments recording, creating, and exploring music at Jacques Grylls’ studio, accompanied by their artistic director, Dan Bédard. These studio sessions allow them to experiment, refine their arrangements, and bring new musical ideas to life in an inspiring environment.

Between sound recordings, creative exchanges, and sonic discoveries, the artists are working passionately to build a rich, authentic show full of surprises.

They have some wonderful things in store for their show on March 27, 2026! In the meantime, check out some previews of their time in the studio below and take a behind-the-scenes look at their creative process.

Jonathan Okoua

Jonathan devoted a lot of time and passion to creating his songs. He carefully crafted the lyrics, then recorded his voice and guitar to bring his music to life.

He even had the opportunity to collaborate in the studio with a percussionist and violinists, who added their talent and sounds to the tracks. Their contribution enriched the arrangements and brought even more depth and emotion to his songs.

Luna Fox

During the week of February 23, Luna Fox was in the studio. In an atmosphere that was both inspiring and creative, she worked alongside Jacques Grylls, Dan Bédard, and percussionist Shawn, who arrived with an impressive collection of percussion instruments from around the world – including some even made from goat hooves.

This studio session, rich in learning, collaboration, and musical exploration, allowed Luna Fox to record three songs. According to Luc, marketing assistant, they are simply exceptional… but we won’t say more for now. We cannot wait for you to hear them!

Every year, La Slague opens its stage to emerging artists! An event that has been running for over a decade, a festival that has enabled a whole new generation of artists to take their first steps in the spotlight. This year marks a turning point, with a new chapter about to be written, giving way to a brand new festival.

To mark this pivotal moment, the band Konflit, headlining the evening of March 28, 2026, will participate in a roundtable discussion on the program Au rythme du Nord, hosted by Elsie Miclisse and featuring Éric Robitaille, broadcast live from the Bistro at Place des Arts in Greater Sudbury.

The evening will continue with La Slague’s 2026 artistic residents in Le Studio Desjardins at Place des Arts in Greater Sudbury. Three promising talents from the Franco-Ontarian next generation. Luna Fox, songwriter and voice of Le Bruit d’aujourd’hui, will present her emotionally charged pop songs. Jonathan Okoua will share his Ponctuations project, combining voice and guitar in original compositions, while Darlene Ya will invite the audience to vibrate and participate in her energetic and interactive musical universe. Together, they promise a festive, creative, and inspiring evening.
